Founded in 1969 in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Turkish Educational Foundation (TEF) is a non-profit charitable California organization dedicated to educating needy children in Turkey. All membership dues and contributions to TEF are tax-deductible.
We select and monitor our students with the help of similar organizations in Turkey, like T#287;itim Derneği, ğdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği, Anadolu ğdaş Eğitim Vakfı (ANAV), Kadın Araştırmaları Derneği and Rizeliler Derneği. The financial support is intended to be a motivation to their families so that the children are not forced into working to bring money to the household, at the expense of their education. The scholarships are provided on the need and merit basis, with no religious, ethnic or gender criteria.
TEF is supported by the voluntary work of its members. This allows TEF to work with minimal necessary overhead (like postage) and more than 98% of the collected money is distributed to the students of TEF.
TEF currently supports more than 300 students, and has supported more than 3500 students since 1969. Our goal is certainly increase this number by multifold, and we cannot achieve it without your donations. Thank you for your support.
